报告摘要:

Molecules may have flexible structures with multi-accessible spin and/or oxidation states. In such molecules, the states can be switched by external stimuli and their changes are sometimes observed as dynamic behavior.  The flexible molecules have been, therefore, attached in intense research interests from the viewpoints of fundamental chemistry and potential applications to molecular devices. Especially, multi-component molecules, in which each component possesses several states due to spin conversion and electron transfer, are expected to show synergistic behavior with stepped and/or selective state conversions. Throughout the search for molecular systems with structure-dependent functionalities and switchable characteristics, such as single-molecule magnet (SMM), spin-crossover (SCO), and mix valence (MV) complexes, one of the most encouraging groups of compounds has emerged from one of the oldest known families of materials. In this lecture, syntheses and dynamic behavior of SMM, SCO, and MV complexes will be presented.
