Overview

Lehn Institute of Functional Materials (LIFM) in association with the Laboratory of Supramolecular Chemistry at ISIS of University of Strasbourg and INT of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2010 is an international institute founded by Sun Yat-Sen University. It aims to conduct research in the fields of Supramolecular and Material Chemistry, Cluster Chemistry, Nanomaterial Chemistry, Molecular and Supramolecular Electronics.

Currently, LIFM has 10 faculty and staff members, including one Nobel Prize laureate, one member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, one chief scientist of the 973 Program, and a few other young researchers. It is worth noted that the strong collaboration between Chinese scientists and foreign PIs has placed a solid ground for driving the research of LIFM into a high level in future.

LIFM initiates over a number of scientific research projects such as LIFM International Cooperation Program, LIFM Construction Program, High-level Foreign Expert Program, the National Basic Research Program of China, Guangdong Province Leading Talent Program and so on.

Besides, LIFM has been well equipped with many advanced research instruments, such as high-resolution NMR spectrometer, high resolution mass spectrometer like MALDI-TOF/TOF, ESI-Q-TOF, and so forth.  In addition, there are several advanced labs (as large as 1,200 m2) for the uses of teaching and research in the Guangzhou South Campus. Furthermore, more advanced equipments can be shared with the foreign PI´s lab.
